I had been supporting the Nuclear deal from the start, but no longer since the 123 Agreement was out as it greatly compromised India's case.
Let me summarise why it humiliating for India,
~ The agreement does not allow India to withdraw for forty years while the US can break it anytime
This is completely one-sided,I don't understand how India could mutually agree to this?
~ Requires India to build a separate reprocessing facility under IAEA, US and international inspection and permits reprocessing after all that only after a year or more of negotiation.
Why do we need a new reprocessing facility? To put us Under-surveillance? Now you are going to hamper India's Military Nuclear program forever with this.
~ Prevents India from testing nuclear weapons.
Does India have 4000 kiloton of bombs as chinese(of which they have 18)? If not how can you agree to this? Doesn't this mean total submission of India's Nuclear program to US?
As George Fernandes correctly said yesterday, "if the chinese PM has signed a similar deal, he would have been shot by now". Sadly this is India and we had to go through in a democratic way and need to tolerate the foolishness of the current corrupt government in power.I don't think the Left will part its way from the UPA government for this. They will
make a hue and cry about the deal for a few weeks and do
under-the-table negotiations and go soft with the corrupt government in
power.
The Government has signed an humiliating nuclear agreement and greatly sacrificed India’s independence, nuclear deterrence and foreign policy.High time the corrupt government is thrown out of power and the nuclear deal is scrapped forever. And if somehow this government survives, our last hope will remain on the US Congress to reject the deal.
